What You Need to Know: Born to a Kree mother and a human father, Carol Danvers unlocked her latent powers and she became the Super Hero known as Captain Marvel. One of Earth’s most powerful Avengers.
In This Issue: It’s just a normal day at Avengers Mountain with Thor working on Ice Duty (and being ever so grumpy about it now that he is an All-Father) cleaning up when he realizes, he isn’t alone. Out of nowhere, a villain comes flying in and punches The God of Thunder right in the face and into the mountainside itself. But Thor is never without his hammer too far behind and with a mighty swing, the villainess is revealed to be Carol Danvers! The two battled all over the world from Greenland to Manitoba to Kansas to California and on never giving up and fighting to their fullest. But when Thor thinks he finally has Carol done for, she pulls out one last trick up her dark sleeve. With tears in her eyes, she goes to the Ruins of New Arctilian, former home of the Inhumans to deliver a package to her new boss, who looks forward to Carol destroying the rest of the Avengers in a matter of 15 hours.
Right off the bat no back story, no reasons why. Just BAM! Superhero Fight! And what a fight it was! Glad that the writers chose for Carol to start strong by choosing Thor, a God to begin this new battle. But then again, if Thor is first and he’s a god, what’s that saying about the other Avengers? But after seeing Carol overcome so much in the last issues, she is clearly ready for this new arch and there is a moment at the end where you kind of want to know what’s going on but you’re so caught up in the epic fight, you figure you can wait an issue or 2. Her outfit, by the way, is amazing and gives out a great villain vibe with its simplicity.
