Summary:
Wilson Fisk has cast a die against Fred Myers/Boomerang and the Bar With No Name has turned itself on its head in order to take him down. With Peter stuck in the crossfire unable to fight his way out as Spider-Man, how will he be able to stop all of the super-villains from killing his roommate? And what is Fred willing to do to make sure that Peter is safe?
Thoughts:
Nick Spencer just keeps on impressing me with what he’s able to do with Peter and these characters surrounding him. There are so many great character moments in this issue, especially between Peter and Fred. The layers on Fred are just constantly pulled further and further back and I hope it keeps going that way. I hope what’s happened in this issue isn’t cheapened by future events because if it is, it would be incredibly disappointing; because Fred Myers is surprisingly becoming one of my favorite Spider-Man side characters.
Humberto Ramos knocks it out of the park yet again, drawing up some completely beautiful panels, a couple of which were very well done in capturing the emotions of one of the characters. I’m not certain how long he’s gonna stay on, but either way, I’m glad he’s here. We also get some great moments with Wilson Fisk, as his role in everything starts to become clearer by the end of the issue. I’m beyond interested to see where Spencer takes things next, especially with Kraven and the mystery villain involved.
Despite still not getting enough MJ content, this issue overall is surprisingly one of the most endearing Spider-Man books in recent memory and I hope it stays that way. Peter and Fred make a great duo and I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes. The Trivial Pursuit storyline is just getting started and I look forward to seeing what Nick Spencer has in store for us.
