After what happened in Justice League: No Justice, and the appearance pf the Tree of Wonder. A mass of otherworldly resurrections have haunted Wonder Woman’s psyche. As new members come together and join in the fight to save Wonder Woman, they must now fight to survive the horrific night. Finding out that the Tree of Wonder is a doorway to the Realm of Magic, the team rush to find answers. Getting closer to understanding what maybe causing everything, the only hope they have left is Fate by their side. Only this time things are going to be turned UPSIDE DOWN!

Last Issue:

The world of magic is broken, and the supernatural world is scared and confused to what is going on. Jason Blood and called a meeting and everyone is set on fixing what has broken magic. Wonder Woman set out to build a new team that will face what goes bump in the night, and fix what was happening to magic. But as everyone she asked declined her offer, for the first time Wonder Woman felt utterly alone. As things went from bad to worse and Wonder Woman had given up on looking for help, everyone she had asked found themselves back to back working together, fighting off grotesque bodies that were dead. With visions of a dark future and an Ancient enemy approaching, a new team has emerged (for how long we don’t know) and they will fight to set things right.  That is if they survive not killing each other or being killed by the dead.

This issue:

We start off with a flash back of Diana when she was a child in Themyscira, and as all children are she was curious. Curious of witches that danced and prayed in the forest at night, there in that forest was the first time Diana felt true horror and wanted to scream.

Moving to the present time in the Basement of the Hall of Justice, picking up from where the first issue left off, the new Justice League Dark fight off the dead in their new base. As the fight begins to end and the horrific encounter dwindles down, Wonder Woman begins to question her new members on joining in the fight. With Swamp Thing being the peacekeeper between newly join team mates, Zatanna tells Wonder Woman of a message she received from her father, and in this message The Originals of Magic are coming back to reclaim what is theirs; Understanding that they cannot do this alone, and need more answers of what has been brought to the table, The Justice League Dark travel to Salem Massachusetts to ask help from Dr. Fate.

In the Tower of Fate the Justice League Dark finally hope to find answers to fix what is happening to magic, but not everyone follows inside; Swamp thing has his own agenda he must complete and an old ally appears to speak to the Protector of the Green. Back inside the Tower Wonder Woman and Zatanna urge Kent Nelson (Dr. Fate) to speak to Nabu, so that they may get some answers of who is coming for magic. Dr. Fate accepts to help but in doing so separates Wonder Woman and Zatanna from Detective Chimp and Dr. Langstrom (Man-Bat). In their separation both sides of the team face truths that have been kept in the dark, and in the light things become to be turned UPSIDE DOWN. Now the Justice League Dark must face their toughest villain ever! And for the second time in Wonder Woman’s life she saw true horror. Order must be set and a new world will be at peace. Enter THE UPSIDE DOWN MAN!

My Thoughts:

Writer James Tynion IV has gone on record in stating that the UPSIDE DOWN MAN is to be the “scariest damn villain” DC has seen in a while, and I believe it. Shown in a message from Zatanna’s father, The UPSIDE DOWN MAN has shown up and he is ready to eat. The Justice League Dark might have their hands full, and it might turn out that magic will not be fixed. Magic may stay broken if the team cannot get past The UPSIDE DOWN MAN, and with Swamp Thing question himself; this team might end as quickly as they came together. Stay tuned to find out what happens next as the Originals of Magic come back to claim what has been stolen from them.

Quote of the issue:

“Now…Who shall I eat first?”
