What You Need to Know: Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel is considered one of the Earth’s Mightiest Avengers. And she has now proven it by “taking out” ALL of the Avengers, or so she wants Supreme Vox to think. The Mutated Kree, has charged Carol with killing and delivering all the Avengers to him or he will set off a series of bombs he implanted inside innocent Kree children. To ensure she complies, Vox has fitted her with a suit that monitors her location and audio just in case she tries something. Which of course, she is thanks to Singularity who can create a sentient pocket dimension Carol can hide the REAL Avengers while presenting Vox with Clones. But now that they have all be delivered, Vox springs his trap and restrained Carol to a machine that will supposedly harness all the powers of the Avengers.
In This Issue: Vox is ready to finally initiate his plan with Carol now hooked up to all the clone Avengers, but she has one last trick up her sleeve thanks to Tony Stark. A small device that should send a high frequency wave to distort the suit and Vox long enough for Carol to break out of both the suit and the restraints on the machine holding her. Turns out, Carol and her friends had one last plan up their sleeves. While Carol deals with Vox, the other Avengers can secretly go to all the Kree camps, find the children with the bombs implanted in them, and bring them to Tony (still hiding is Singularity) and finally deactivate the bombs. But the device Tony gave her isn’t the only toy she brought, thanks to Captain America she is able to fight Vox with his shield as backup. But during the fight, Vox throws the chemicals he was using on the clones at Carol and reveals his true self to her. But the chemicals transform Carol into a mutated version herself combined with ALL the Avengers, and she is ready to SMASH! The fight continues, and Carol realizes that with puking up the chemicals inside her, it easies her mind and cleanses her of the other clones’ thoughts, but she still needs some of their powers if she is going to finish Vox. Calling on Thor’s Hammer, Mjolnir, Carol uses that and Captain America’s Shield to defeat Vox and lock him in a container he had made to hold Carol. Burning the rest of the toxins out of her body, Mjolnir returns to Thor, who is with the rest of the Team as they let her know they were able to save the kids inside Singularity. After cleaning up the rest of the loose ends Vox has left, Carol is finally able to go home and get some rest. Well almost. . .
If you were one of those people in the movie theatre like me during Endgameand flipped out when Captain America used both his Shield and Thor’s hammer to beat the crap out of Thanos… you will love Carol doing the same to Vox. Her mutated form is kind of creepy, but it is drawn so well you just don’t care when she is throwing Cap’s Shield at Vox’s head. It all works well on page down to her ‘burning’ the chemicals out of her. This whole story arc has definitely been trying for Carol and there were points were, as the reader, you kind felt like MAYBE Captain Marvel was in over her head. But, thanks to “the power of friendship” she was able to best Vox. Carol even states that this experience pushed her past her limits and she is absolutely right. This was another big push for her mentally and physically, mostly with having to trust her friends that they would work with her to find a way to stop this. More importantly, Carol really treasures the relationships she has made with the Avengers and anyone with friends knows how crippling it is to think that your friends might never trust you again let alone be ok with letting you punch them in the face. But, the gang see it through and the comedy mixed into the situations with them definitely helps the situation. Especially with Thor who is not happy about vomit on his hammer and Tony who had to do the whole thing in JUST his bathrobe. .
Summary It's the final battle between Captain Marvel and Vox Supreme and it is a brawl for all! But she isn't going in alone as her Avenger Team have her back. But is it enough to stop Vox or is it too late for everyone?
